Manfred Ehrich, Photographer
* 26 July 1941, Königsberg/Prussia
† 6 October 2015, Essen/Germany

Manfred Ehrich was born July 26, 1941 in Königsberg, Prussia (today Kaliningrad) and fled to West Germany with his family at the age of three.
His photographic career began in 1959 with a three-year study of photography at the Düsseldorf photo studio "Photocity". He graduated in 1962 with distinction, at the time a rare achievement at the vocational school in Düsseldorf.
From 1962 to 1967 he studied photography at the Folkwang school in Essen with Prof. Otto Steinert. Here the cornerstone of his artistic photographic career was laid. In 1967 he had his first exhibition together with Claude Perez in Paris at the "Société Francaise de Photographie", which was personally opened by Prof. Steinert.
Since 1971 Manfred Ehrich worked as a freelance photographer and subsequently held frequent exhibitions world-wide. As a commercial photographer he was nationally known: in addition to contracts with the advertising and cultural sectors, he achieved significant recognition and won frequent prizes for his architectural and industrial photography with his unusual photos.
Manfred Ehrich died October 6, 2015 in Essen in the presence of his Family.
